Dear Droolers
The last three weeks have been the worst I have had in a long time if ever.
First Lori bloated and had to make the trip to the bridge. Then last week,
Penny, my dear one, started showing signs of pain somewhere. She began
looking like she was a peanut roller, as western pleasure horses are
sometimes called, with the nose on the ground. Went to the vet on Tuesday,
started on some medication. Wednesday, she could barely get up, so back to
the vet. By the time we got there, she could not get the back end going at
all. The choices were to go to another clinic have testing done and then
decide where we stood, or the one I took was to send her to the bridge. The
look on her face said, "Mommy I hurt and I am scared." With that I had to
send her to the bridge. I could not drop her off in a strange place, and
then find out not much could be done. When I heard that it was her neck, I
knew there was not much hope. When she got the shot, she went quickly and
peacefully in my arms. Vet man said that the way her heart stopped so
quickly that she was ready. I know I did the right thing, even though there
is a big void in my life. She was my baby. I bought her from kids selling
her out of a pick up (this was 10 years ago, now I call animal control). She
was referred to as pea brain, as she was always a little slow. Never a
problem, always a timid sort, but the sweetest smushiest hound.
Thank you all for the support and notes and cards that you sent to me when
I lost my dear one.
Terry and the hounds.
