I am waiting for the day when Cesar does a show on hounds--any hounds, not just bassets. I'd like to see how his methods work on that day. The wussy dogs he usually has on his shows don't seem to know the meaning of the word determination; either that or the film crew stays there night and day for three days and just doesn't tell you about it.

There's a reason why that ad with Cesar and the basset has a basset in it, not some "smart" dog who obeys at the drop of a hat. But as far as I have seen, he's had about one basset on his program in the whole time I've seen the program (but maybe I missed some shows). And not too many hounds of any type make it on. If he did a program on training bassets:

A basset roll would become a basset belly rub--if he didn't get bitten instead. Or maybe it'd turn into something to eat instead of something a human did to a dog.
Outwaiting a basset would be a marathon not a sprint.
He'd end up feeding the hound every treat in the bag before it obeyed. And even then the outcome would be iffy.
And even the famous Cesar cool might get a bit hot under the collar.

I don't think there's enough time in the TV schedule to have a reality show on training bassets. As we all know, this is a lifelong struggle. And our hounds would say the same about us.

However, I must admit that Holly and Dexter are probably the most well-behaved dogs we've had in our pack. They obey most of the time, as long as it suits their needs.
