One month ago today, Mama Pumpkin (only nicknamed Mama since she is the eldest female, never had a litter) had hair flaking off one of her butt cheeks, and when I noticed it, she got to the vet, and she had a skin infection and puss. She was treated orally and topically, and it went away. Today, after a couple of days of noticing dogs sniffing her butt beyond norm, I noticed a dark spot on her other cheek, so I brought her in sooner than later. She is checked out OK, will need some topical remedy, never a problem here, and she is my most Sr., and a very spunky 12 year old.
OK a parade of fire trucks just went by, and I have a full blown choir, and I just got the herd to sleep. The jinx of living on a busy road.
Anyway, Pumpkin has always had anal gland issues, she was impacted as a VERY young pup, and I rescued here at 8 weeks, but due to her size she could have been younger. She was teeny.I tried pumpkin with Pumpkin (ironic, but I rescued her on Halloween, and a good friend called me Pumpkin in endearment so I chose that name to pass the love, not that her to be a "squash") but it did nothing for her anal gland situation.
Situation stable. I am so glad for the Vet practice I use, and I thank again to all the droolers who sent cards there. I didn't do the list this year, but to see cards on the walls of the Vet and Mom's nursing home (there is a place I will have to take a picture - bassets are totally dominating the nurse station, and a happy and smiling staff is very appreciative!!!!!)
I was off list for a few days, and I changed my email address to the list. It was one I formerly used, but now am returning to it.
Marlene, you are parallel with my dream of the future dog... while you said Newfie, I want a Landseer, a cousin of the Newfie, but in the color of my beautiful black and white heart dogs, Sr. and Jr.I have a long way to go before a vacancy opens up here, and my wish is to move to FL., and I know the breed prefers cold to warm. It is a pimple on my small brain.
Bev, who is Mr. Biscuit?
Happy New Year to you great group of wonderful animal loving people.
I appreciate you all so much.
Jackie, Pumpkin (Mommy, yikes, the vet AGAIN!!), Jean Paul (Mommy why did you scrub my neck so much, so what if I drool a lot and my folds foster bacteria), Jellybean, (forget Mommy, let us have a bark fest for no reason at all, especially because she took Pumpkin to the Vet WITHOUT my permission), Nigel (suck it up, I have to go to the eye specialist in a few days), Colette (I could have been thought of as the forgotten middle kid, but Momma and Auntie love me, and I know it), Max (Auntie Jackie told my Mom to rest up and spend another night away, and I will get through it. I miss my Mama, she has been away for four nights already, but because weather is bad, we want mom safe than sorry. Max, a tri-state rescue loves Donna beyond belief and it is so mutual.) Nikki, (I am looking forward to my playdate with alumni ABHR Ginger, it is always a good time and worth waiting for), Pierre Jr. (I work so hard to keep my Mom's heart full of love, and sometimes I get very tired. I am snoozing a lot now. I have finally trained her very well, and she is an excellent slave. She knows my needs and wants, and I love her. I am still training her a bit, here and there, but mostly it is a love fest. She would take me on adventures more but the family situation currently doesn't allow it. All I can hope is that when the time comes, we can be ready together. I want to learn tricks.
