[Dailydrool] Pooping indoors

Bonejour everybuddy, da mum of Pw's Penny and Polly here "not" woofin' in from across the waves in France!

We are staying at our friends' villa (again!) so da gurlz are living the life of luxury and we (humans) have yet again been transformed into valets and doormen!  How wonderful to just open a door and not have to dress and go out in the freezing cold!  One of the reasons for staying here was to cat-sit for their 22 year old cat.  Sadly, last Monday she went to the cat bridge. 

Every time we stayed here Penny's delight was going into the master bedroom (where the cat lived) and "helping" her clean up her food bowls!  The last few days she (cat) was not eating anymore and said food bowls were empty.  When we didn't forget, we kept the bedroom door closed.  However, a couple of times Penny got in there and POOPED on the carpet!  Since the cat has gone to the Bridge the bedroom door is permanently closed and Penny is obsessed by that room.  So, a couple of days ago I let her into the bedroom (supervised by me) and she went round everywhere sniffing.  It was my way of showing her that there was no longer a cat and no longer FOOD.  I thought she had understood - bassets are supposed to be intelligent, after all.

However, Penny STILL wants to get into that room!  This morning I got up and went to the lounge (next to THAT room)  and what do I see but an enormous poop in front of the sofa <sigh>.  She goes out last thing at night and she even comes and wakes us up at 6 am when she wants to go out, so I don't think it's an "accident".  

Any idea on how I can solve this problem, please?  I don't want it to become a habit or I'll never get her out of it!

BTW - I am a VERY BAD basset mum - I forgot to tell you last thursday, it was her 14th b'day!!!!  Maybe that's why she's angry with me?????
