Momma here. I do remember this question coming up and I dont remember many answers on the drool list---sigh---so lets try this again please, I need your thoughts-
Bessie the younger-- has now been here about 3 months. This hound smells like none other I have ever owned, sniffed, petted or encountered. We had her to the vet as at first her lipperflaps smelled like fish---and with meds we got that cleared up as nothing I was doing would help. Moving forward---this dog has a aroma of the body. I wash her bedding every week, and she has been bathed, which helps a few days then here we go again. She eats Orijen kibble, which by all accounts-including my moth eaten wallet-is pretty good stuff, along with homemade topping, which is veggies and meats. She has had the fish, then beef, now poultry formula on the kibble with no change. Bessie is the one here that crawled on her belly for the first few weeks as she was a breeder/mill dog that never knew the good life. So--could this aroma be nerves, does a hound produce smelly bodies when they get nervous? It is not anals, or mouth, this is from the body. I hate to take her to Doc, he would think I was nuts, okay, pass on that one.
Now the next question is this---is this smell one of the reasons Brudder Jake does not really like her?? Does this smell set something off in him?
So Droolers lets see if we can get the list going with some answers, some help--oh and the shampoo I use is Earthbath, she has a nice coat-but it reeks.
I cant be the only one with a smelly basset!!!!

Drool to all in need--
