Hi all, it's the clueless momPerson here,
I am quite confused. Ok, ok, no kidding right? I mean I am clueless. But this
is weird. Here it is ..... a couple of weeks ago Snoopy was limping a bit on
his left front leg when he first got up. Didn't bug him much and we skipped his
walk a couple of nights and he got better .... by the waddle last Wednesday he
was fine. Then, on Sunday, I got up early and fed the dogs and went for my long
run (12 miles). He was fine. I came home and he was limping on that left front
leg BIG time. Greg said he and LuLu had been wrestling pretty heavily outside.
OK, Sunday (limited vet services available) so ..... I figured let him rest
up. But, he seemed to be getting worse over the course of the afternoon and he
was doing some whimpering ...... so I gave him a Rimadyl. Ok, ok so it's
prescribed for Cyrus for his back but I have a ton of the stuff and Snoopy's
blood work is current and fine and in the past when I had a dog come up limping
like this and I spent the money of the vet they've just told me Rimadyl and rest
for 3 days and see what happens. So, while I know I shouldn't just prescribe
drugs myself I did a careful exam (ankle works, knee works, shoulder works ....
albiet with popping sounds, injured leg bears weight in that I can lift the good
front leg and he's still standing, he can walk) and then I gave him the pill so
he wouldn't have to be in pain. Snoopy then quit whimpering and curled up for
a nap.
Snoopy woke up around 2 hours later and charged over and demanded to be petted.
He then charged over to Cyrus and invited him to play. He then leapt up onto
the couch and asked LuLu to play. He spent the rest of his evening charging
around being Snoopy. This morning he continues to show NO signs of any injury.
But before I gave him the rimadyl he could just barely walk .... seriously. And
I know it must have worn off by now, that was almost 24 hrs ago now.
Anybody know what gives? I'm clueless.
thanks,
Dale
