[Dailydrool] LuLu and such

Hi all,

It's the clueless momPerson here.  I'm quite confused.  And I'm not alone in
that.  The newbie vet won't call the house anymore.  There are 2 more vets at
the practice.  One who I really like who is part time now (won't be in till
Sunday) and then they have this one who was a Military vet in the midwest until
about 6 months ago.  She is really very good but she is still working on
treating pets like the bill was simply a bunch of check boxes to fill out (so I
guess these military dogs get $1K worth of tests if they sneeze twice).  Anyway
that is the doctor who called yesterday.  Here's how it went ....

"Hi, this is Dr X... (I'll leave names out of it, no slander here) and I'm
calling with LuLu's test results.  We are baffled because the estrogen level
came back at 12.5.  15 indicates an unspayed dog and over 20 indicates heat.
However Dr Y's report states she had a swollen Vulva, enlarged nipples, red
blood dripping from her vagina and presented as clearly in heat.  How is LuLu
now?"

I replied "LuLu is out back chasing Snoopy around the yard.  She is absolutely
fine except for this thing on her foot.  Did Dr Y tell you about the thing on
the foot?"

She replied "oh, here it is on the chart.  Let me read the pathology report.
Hummm .... consistant with an infected bee sting or bug bite.  Does LuLu go
outside a lot or mess with bees."

I told her "LuLu eats bees.  And any other bug she can find."  The Dr replied "I
think something bit or stung her and it swelled up and you noticed it and then
it got infected.  I think the antibiotics will clear it up."

OK.  And what about the not a heat cycle?  The doctor replied "well .... I don't
know what to tell you because the only thing wrong with her now looks to be an
infected sting/bite.  If it happens again I would recommend the whole $1K worth
of tests Dr Y recommended the first time."

And I said to my husband ..... "can you imagine if we HAD spent the $1K for all
those tests and then she was fully back to herself and fine before the first of
the results came back .... negative."

OK.  I've vented.  I feel better.  Sort of.

More later from the clueless momPerson who needs to go wash some ears and some
bassets because it's Friday
