Its a good thing I love my dogs because I'm $200.00 poorer today. Noticed last night that Reba's eye seemed a little red but we related it to the dust from the town people ripping up our street out front and field in the back of our house being mowed for the first time this season. This morning, however, I noticed that the pupil of that same eye seemed to roll back and all you could see was pink. Then she would blink her eye and sort of refocus and all was good again. She also has had junky ears since last week and one ear in particular seemed a little sore. Figured better to be safe than sorry, especially with the eye, and took her in. Doc did a tear duct test and seems she is not producing enough tears and hence the inflammation in the eye. Cornea looks fine though, thank God. He sent her home with ear drops for the ear, a temporary prescription for the eye until we get the real prescription through the mail from the pharmacy and over-the-counter artificial tears. He said its not a breed specific problem and can be from an immune problem .  Just wondering if anyone has any experience or comments on this. I'll look in the archives for comments too but just curious if this is a common problem. He wants to see her back next week and if the eye doesn't show any improvement then I guess we have to look a little further.

Just when I seem to get ahead, I slide back about 10 feet.... sigh.....
