as suzanne mentioned we took in this hound..i offered to foster her because i felt she needed to be here at chez lema (or as it is sometimes known chez bin) .  she was in terrible shape when she came to rescue.  her nails were so long & curled she didn't walk on her pads...her eyes a mess..ears too.  &  her teeth were a lovely shade of disgusto green.

she arrived here over the weekend & honestly i didn't know what to expect.  i am wary of seniors but somehow felt drawn to this girlie.  my house is pretty calm & i felt once she was stable she would have a good chance of being adopted thru my dog park (i think i am up to like 8-9 dogs so far between setters & hounds!) 


she was a mess.  & stinky.  BUT since saturday the girl has thrived.  she has learned where her crate is for food, slept on the bed for naps, lounged on the sofa, sang with buster, given me her "paw", gone for a hike in the woods, rode shotgun in the big van, smiled at me & can not get enough love.  she wants to play with sally & seems very very happy..

she is a different dog today than she was on saturday.  


she will be adopted & make someone a great pet...i know that...after just a few days...her vet bills are huge...but they were worth it...if you could have seen ehr sat & now even today it would bring tears to your eyes.  i can't imagine what she will be like in a month..or a year.  from a stray...


this is why i am in rescue.  i can offer up tons of cash to any rescue.  i am poor..living just above the poverty line..but i can offer up my singing basset hound buster, & my house..which is a safe haven for hounds like betty (& cooper II, wilma, charlotte, lincoln, rocky, & others) .  for those that can't offer up your homes i ask that you offer up your $$...to mid atlantic specifically.  other rescues generally.  i am sure they all do great work..but i KNOW what healing mid atlantic does.

$1,700 is just for 1 hound.  there have been many...but if you could see the change in just a few days....it is so worth it.
