[Dailydrool] Shelter Challenge

I checked Ohio's standing today and the cat rescue has over taken them!
Please everyone, vote every day from every internet device you have
available to you. Ohio Basset Hound Rescue will do some wonderful things
for the hounds if they win that prize so please vote every day!

I took Suzy in for a check up the other day and Jersey came along to have
yet one more lump checked. I'm going to start calling my old girl Lumpy!
The lump is fine and Suzy's check up was good. I give my girls their
heartworm meds every month but it's always a relief to get the result back
that is negative. We've only gone through the full heartworm treatment with
one of our fosters but it was brutal and I just can't imagine having to go
through it with one of the Houndettes. I wish I could talk Suzy into eating
green beans though. She has made it very clear that she does not like them
and either eats around them or picks them out of her bowl. Suzy weighs 64
pounds now and Jersey is at 62. I can't believe Suzy outweighs Jersey but
she apparently does.

I have to weigh in on the gate issue too. Locks are definitely the way to
go. We had told the neighbor kids that they can go through the gates to get
the stuff that gets thrown into the yard but, the last time they didn't
close the gate tight, the locks went on and only a couple of people know
where the keys are. It is not a pretty sight watching this fat old lady run
through the neighborhood trying to chase down four hounds who are
determined to follow the scent they've picked up and all going in different
directions! Believe me, I was not a happy camper! I also don't leave the
Houndettes outside when we aren't at home. I have heard of people taking
dogs right out of the yard and I'm just not willing to risk it with my
four. They are all very friendly and would go with someone in a
heartbeat....especially if someone was bribing them with food!
