[Dailydrool] Sister Daisy

Momma here. First, I want to thank those that suported Sister Daisy in the Senior HoundsAbound Calendar contest, we only made it in because of you all that voted for her, and raised funds for the seniors, again I thank you all from the bottom of my basset-lovin heart. I do have to say that in the past, when one of my dogs were entered in a contest, I had saved for months, it was my time to donate, I was ready. This year turned into not to be on my end. My finaces for the contest went to vet bills. Sister Daisy is indeed sick 
Daisy started presenting symptoms of Cushings about a month ago--we watched her, and things got worse, fast-we took her to Doc.  Cushings is very treatable, but we are discussing a Winchester dog. Back last year when Daisy had the back to back surgeries at the ER-the second operation was on her adrenal gland, at that time, once I got her out of the ER and to Doc, he told me Cushings was a possiblity and he would not be able to treat her. Well, Doc has somewhat recanted those words, but we sure have issues here. We have now done tons of blood work, x-rays, ultrasounds, low dex tests, high dex tests, Doc has had a radiolgist check her x rays, called in 2 internists--and Sister Daisy is not showing anyone if it is pituatary or adrenal Cushings. Now the treatment is similar, but if she were to crash on the meds, well he needs to know what we are dealing with. Tomorrow she goes in for the ACTH Simulation test, but Doc has already warned me this may not show us which it is since all the other test have not and usually do. He is talking sending her to a specialist if this test bombs.
I know Doc is being very cautious, I have had a Cushing basset years ago-one that was given the wrong doseage of drugs by the pharmacy up the street-it was a disaster to say the least.
Daisy is not doing well. Typical Cushings-drinking gallons, eating anything that could be food, weak legs, hot flashes--she will get off the perch and once she walks to the kitchen she has to lay down and pant. She cant stand heat, and it breaks my heart to see her like this. All the things she loved, well those are done. She is really struggling here.
Hubby is taking off work in the morning to take her in, this test they have to order the special tubes for testing and then it is packed in dry ice and shipped back to the lab. I wont know anything until next week. I only hope she will tell the tail this time, make it possible to maybe treat her.
I have bought a new mop. The washer was replaced about 3 months after Clara left me. Daisy drinks gallons, and what goes in, come out. Trust me, I am riding the mop and the washer never stops. She is worth every minute, but it sure isnt fair. Daisy has been thru too much-
The Beach Gang is well aware that Daisy is sick. They sniff her and bless them, give her very wide berth. 
So thats it from the Beach, a roller coater ride to say the least.
