I am the general caretaker of the hounds here. I feed, bathe, clean and pick up after them. I pick eyes, squeeze glands and dremel nails. After more than four years of living with an incontinent basset- there is little that grosses me out. OK- cleaning up 'urks' ( I can't even type the other word)- that gets to me, but I get it done. I am also not all that good with drool- the stringy gross kind that can grow to a foot in length before being flung...but I take care of it. I share my eating utensils- no problems there. They can lick my plate clean... ok, enough about me~ Last night John (dadperson) was getting ready for bed. I was already in bed and Peaches in there with me. It is John's habit to have a glass of water on his nightstand during the night- he fills the glass at the bathroom sink. So, he fills his glass with nice cold water and as he walks over the bed, he stops and asks Peach if she would like a drink. It appears that she was a mite dry and he holds the glass for her while she has her fill. He then walks over and puts it on his table. I looked at him in disbelief and asked if he wasn't going to rinse that glass out and start over?? He shakes his head no, and says why?- it's ok. Then proceeds to pick the glass up and have a drink!! EWWWW! This is the same man who can't pick up poop without gagging... the same one who certainly loves the bassets but who doesn't do much for them other than play with or love on them. My stomach is turning at this point, I tell him that I, as the main water-bowl-cleaner-and refiller KNOW what floats around in those bowls and there it not a chance I'd drink after they did. again....ewwww!
At this point he starts laughing and holds up TWO glasses. There was another one, and that is what he drank from. Me- I'm still grossed out a whole 10 hours later...
thought you might enjoy the laugh~Angelika
