Dale,
I am not as confident in this advise as I am in my previous advise. I want
to state that up front. I am wondering if Gracie is peeing in the house
when her schedule is upset. As a puppy mill dog, I doubt her days ever
changed very much. Now her life is better, but it is ever changing and
this unknown could be causing some distress peeing. I am seeing this in my
most recent rescue puppy. Browyn is nine months old and you would think she
would be way past the stage of having accidents. We have had her for 5
months now. But, I have noticed if the schedule gets all changed or things
happen that she doesn't like--like the day the power went out she had three
accidents. I really don't think Gracie is mad at you because you had her
spayed. When I first started reading your post I wondered if she had a
urinary tract infection, but since the number of accidents is decreasing,
that is less likely. I am just wondering if she is getting over stimulated
with life at times. I know you are anti-crate and I am pro-crate. I just
wonder if she might like a princess crate set up somewhere where she can go
and be by herself. What is a princess crate? It is a crate decked out
with is comfy pad and a blanket. My dogs are a lot younger so it also
includes some chew toys and depending on the dog, stuffies. I would just
put it up where you guys are and leave the door open. It might be helpful
since you are currently having so much turmoil with who is the alpha. I
would think that would be stressful. Maybe it is more stressful for me
than the dogs. I don't know. We are going through that here as well. I
think at our house Browyn wants to be the alpha and Beauford and Bugsey
have decided that she is too young to take the throne and they will be her
advisers until she at least gets her brains. Good luck and hang in there!
I will have the boys send some drool your way!
