[Dailydrool] Hunting in the backyard

We are always having trouble with the dogs and the stupid, stupid robins.
We are in the country and we have a backyard for the hounds, two side yards
and a deep front yard. All the other birds choose to NOT nest in the
backyard. The robins seem to be idiots and nest in the backyard where my
dogs kill several of their fledglings every year. Browyn is up to two so
far. Then I have Bugsey the mouse and vole hunter. Beauford has killed an
adult robin and an adult rabbit. Browyn finds the baby rabbits, asks Bugsey
what to do and he steals them and runs around with them in his mouth. He
doesn't hurt them and the babies scream so much I always go out and save
them.

We do have bird feeders, but they are in the side yard near a crab apple.
The crab apple protects the little birds from the hawks. Banshee ATB used
to eat the shells of the seeds when the feeder was in the backyard and she
got an ulcer. So, we moved the feeder. Probably a good idea. Sometimes I
get tired of trading treats for animals dead or alive. Fortunately, my dogs
chew.
