It is now almost 3 in the morning.
I have been up about 40 minutes.
I do not know how the dogs know from inside the closed, locked, darkened
house that something is in the yard but they do and want to go out.
By now I should know when Conley and Doc both shoot for the door without
the usual growls and snarks and shoving that SOMETHING is going on but if I
was too groggy to notice that, the way they rocketed out the door reminded
me.Grabbing a flashlight, praying to MNature that it was not a skunk or
coyote, I followed in my jammies. I checked the whole damn yard. Nothing.

Ok finally everyone has peed let's go in it's 40 with 5mph wind and I am
freezing my ******* ass off. Just as Doc approaches the house he goes off.
Conley rushes over and goes off. They are both screaming and keeping a
distance.Whatever it is is behind the A/C unit. I rush over with a
flashlight and look.

It is a two=pound kitten. It is not a pet. It is feral. I know the lineage
from the cat left behind last year.

I send the dogs in and spend the next half hour crouched in the back yard
with a flashlight, a can of sardines and a trap I cannot remember how to
work. The trap is big enough for the entire Cat family. I set it and come
in, wondering if she is heavy (it is probably amale-- it is a silver tabby,
very thin.) enough to trip the door. It is not very artfully set.

Not my idea of fun at 3 in the morning.
