[Dailydrool] Crackers

Early last week I posted about my sweet Crackers having to have his spleen  
removed because of a mass and asked for some drool. The mass was benign  
(hematoma) but could have ruptured and he could have bled out internally. They 
 did find a small spot in his intestines that was a fairly non aggressive 
cancer  called spindle cell and they removed that. Unfortunately after the 
surgery,  Crackers could not keep anything down and was constantly vomiting 
and retching.  It was a roller coaster for this past week but it finally seems 
that he has acid  reflux and esophagitis. He didn't get any food or water 
or almost a week but  instead, fluid, electrolytes and TPN (a nutrient that 
goes directly into the  blood stream.) This Thurs he managed to drink some 
water and hold down some  chicken. Yesterday I got to bring him home in the 
evening and he has been eating  and drinking fine. He is on a half dozen 
medications and we go back in two weeks  as apparently this takes a long time to 
heal. I visited him every day and when I  left Thurs nite I had a feeling 
that he had turned the corner and would be home  soon. And while most dogs 
would probably be exhausted and sleep in the car, my  boy did his usual thing 
of sitting and looking out the window. He is following  me around the house 
and sleeping at my feet when I sit down. 
Thanks to all of you who sent Drool his way. I really think it helped both  
of us get through this. Droolers Rule!
