Hello,

For the last several years, like clockwork, at this time of year Boomer
gets the scratch fever bad. I called the vet at the 1st sign of it this
year, and was told that all I could do is medicate him with Benadryl, and
if he scratches himself raw, to come in and get steroids and antibiotics.
I'm thinking that there has to be a better way??

He usually ends up with his ears infected as well, but not at the start. I
really don't want to being doing prednisone over and over till it stops or
goes away. I hate to see him suffering through this. It usually around his
neck that's the worst, I think.

We have tried baths, I don't have any other ideas. Do I just put him in a
cone, and leave it on till it passes? On that subject, has anyone had luck
with any of the blow up protective collars? I hate seeing him in the 'cone
of shame'.

I'm open to suggestions, thanks so much! I love you all!!
