For those of you who cut your dogs' nails yourself, have you ever wondered
why they grow at such different rates between dogs? I cut all three
bassets' nails at the same time, all the time. I just cut nails by myself
because the dad is out of town. I thought about getting him to help me
before he left, but he had a cold and a very short fuse. Anyway, I think
things go better without him. I was afraid Browyn wouldn't let me cut her
nails after the blood bath I created last time with her. I only cut her
front nails because the back ones are just too short to cut. I barely
tipped her front toenails. She was very good and wanted belly rubs and
liver treats for being a good girl, but she always wants that. Bugsey was
really good as well other than he cried every time I cut a nail. No, I
didn't quick him. He is just trying to psych me out. The dad yells at me
when he does this. He doesn't believe me when I try to explain Bugsey is
just being a drama queen. He needed a fair amount cut off, but nothing
extreme. Then came Beauford. He tried to convince me that he was a snake
and didn't have any feet. I had to dig out each foot and cut the nails. His
ears kept getting in the way! I bet Bev doesn't have that problem with Doc!
Next time I need to find the scrunchies first! Anyway, Beauford must be
growing his nails out for Revlon as well, like Conley. They were SO long! I
cut them two weeks ago. What is the deal! I don't even think I got them
short enough because I would rather error on a little long than blood bath,
and he was wiggling and his ears kept getting in the way because he always
wants to watch you chop off his precious nails. I know his front feet are
very crooked and the nails don't wear evenly, but this is ridiculous! Oh
well. Tomorrow is bath day. They just don't know it yet. I can hardly wait.
We got 4 inches of rain last weekend and they had a blast playing in the
mud. They are beyond filthy. Part of me will be so happy when they are a
little older and don't want to do this. Then I remind myself that this is
my third generation. That means I have watched two generations grow old and
die on me. I sure don't want to speed that up!
Jennifer with Beauford (my nails,my beautiful nails are gone!), Bugsey (
got lots of chicken liver for being a good boy). and Browyn the Fairy
Princess (I got lots of liver AND belly rubs because I am so good)
