 Alice,
     Another tip to reduce the effects and length of pano attacks is to take the young dog off of puppy food if you still have her on it and either switch her to adult food and/or giant/large breed puppy food which tends to be lower in fat and protein then conventional puppy foods.  Rapid growth is usually the cause of pano and that is why is it seen mostly in giant and large breed dogs.  The lower fat and protein of large and giant breed dogs foods tends to slow growth down and lessen the severity of the condition.  I would also suggest 1,000 mgs of vitamin C a day--you can break this up in to two doses of 500 mgs twice a day given with meals and you may want to try a glucosamine /chondroitin  supplement which is known to help lubricate the joints and alleviate inflammation. But, rest assured that this too shall pass.
