[Dailydrool] Muzzle for Poop Eater?

I can't get Higgins to stop eating poop (I realize this is common), and I was wondering if anyone has tried a basket muzzle for this problem. I would think it would hinder him from actually picking it up. I hate the thought of a muzzle, but he would only have it on for the few minutes they are outside in this frigid weather. I also wonder if it is hard to size a muzzle on a narrow face with large jowls (he measures 12 inches circumference), as he would probably wear the same size as a very large dog.

I've tried a popular stool-eating deterrent and ended up sending it back to the company, as that did nothing. I've tried meat tenderizer, which didn't work, and I didn't like feeding it to Maggie (the treat maker). Higgins even picks up completely frozen poopsicles and appears to swallow them whole when I attempt to stop him. In the summer it is easy to follow Maggie around and pick up right away, but with the temps below zero for what feels like a month now, it isn't possible to be out with them at every hour.

Maybe I should look on the bright side. My poor Maggie has lost some control of her movements in her elderly age (14), so maybe I should be grateful that she is pooping inside (like on my bed at night!), where I can pick it up before Higgie gets it. :(

Candy (She Who Sleeps with Poop)
C. Higgins (Can't a guy catch a break and be allowed a snack from time to time!)
Maggie Mae (Dear Me! I prefer real treats!!)
