well, the honeymoon is over and Mila feels right at home. Now we are discovering her passions. she is an incredible busybody and watchdog par excellence.

Our house sits up on stilts, with a ramp to the yard in front, and a balcony lanai on the rear. the yard is fenced and goes all the way around the house. from the front, there is a view of four houses in either direction up and down the street. From the back lanai there is a view down a hillside over two streets, maybe four houses wide, and one side of the yard looks over a neighbor's yard.

and Mila barks at anything that moves--cats crossing the road, children walking home from school, every car that starts or stops within three houses in any direction, the mail carrier as she traverses three streets, neighbors going to work and coming home. we have doggie doors leading outside in front and on the lanai. Our older hounds use them to go out and sun themselves or attend to potty needs. Mila goes in every direction barking at everything that happens. she clearly enjoys this. I am sure my neighbors do not (some of them are not particularly tolerant). I can stop Mila from barking by calling her inside and closing the doors--or by hollering. but then of course the other two want to go in or out. today I have felt like a hotel doorman.

do you think she will settle down a little with time, or am I going to need to do a major training offensive? I have no doubt that Mila will request sentry duty in the PBF.
