[Dailydrool] Life after Bo

We are missing the late Commander Bo here at PBF Headquarters. the Commander ran a tight ship. since his departure for the Bridge all manner of discipline and order have gone to seed. There is little regimentation and order. I imagine the Commander is frowning as he observes from the Bridge.

First there is the landscaping. the Commander would not stand for grass height any taller than a basset's elbow. When the grass was approaching this mark, he would stand at the bottom of the ramp and issue orders, and the mom slave would mow immediately. Harley and Mila are content to make paths through shoulder high grass and sometimes the mom slave does not spring into action until she notices burrs in their fur. Shudder. Instead of weekly mowing, there is every two week mowing.

Secondly, precise military timing of meals and walks has gone lax. Breakfast used to be at 6 AM sharp, dinner at 5 PM sharp, and walks at 7:30 PM sharp. Now everything is loosey goosey. Breakfast anytime between 6 AM and 9 AM, dinner between 5PM and 7PM, walks between 7:30 and 8:30 PM. the prescribed walk route, which the Commander insisted was across the street, right turn, two houses, right turn, cross the street, and two houses back to home is no longer observed. Now the crew meanders hither and yon.

The humans used to work their own activities around The Commander's activities. He would summon the momslave to change his uniform to a new, crisp one at least once a day, sometimes more, and in the afternoon when Bo decided the mom slave had been working long enough at her sewing machine, he would insist she stop for an hour's break or so to keep him company and rub his ears in the livingroom. If the Commander was in the yard and wished an escort back into the house, the mom person would be summoned. Now the woman works along sometimes past dog dinnertime without even noticing the time.

In the mornings Bo insisted the mom slave be up and out of bed before time for breakfast. Now she regularly sleeps later. The floor rarely needs mopping now. There are three less loads of laundry to do a week. Dog medicine, vet insurance, and diaper bills have plummeted. and the house is very quiet, even with two resident hounds.

But I miss the old tyrant terribly and wish he were still here. Semper fido, Commander Bo.
