[Dailydrool] Mulligan's new friend

Last night we had a "dinner group" at our house.  This a a rotating group
of couples and last night was our night to host 2 couples for dinner.  I
spent most of the day cooking.  One of our guests had some serious back
surgery about 6 weeks ago.  We scheduled the dinner to allow her plenty of
time to heal.  Every time I saw her she would tell me that she couldn't
wait to meet our Bassets and sit on the floor with them to get kisses.  I
was so worried that crazy Guinness would jump on her and knock her down.  I
let the dogs on the porch to greet everyone when they arrived but quickly
put them on lock down so we could have peace over dinner.  Guinness just
looked through the glass door and whined.  The guests wanted us to let them
out, so I released them.  OMD, Guinness ran around like a wild dog,
aroooo'ing and barking.  Janice got down on the floor and all four of them
were right there, kissing and getting their ears and bellies rubbed.  I
didn't realize until last night that she used to have 2 bassets.  I should
have known that only a true Basset lover could forsake major back surgery
for some serious basset kisses. Another of the guests, (a cat owner!) fell
in love with Mulligan.  He was enchanted.  MacKenzie's velvet black ears
got lots of attention.  The only bad thing for the bassets was that the
butter was out of Guinness's reach.  Even shy Gallagher was in there for
rubs.

This was the first time that we've had people over that didn't question our
sanity over having 4 bassets, with special gates and dog ramps custom build
just for them.

Gracie, Mulligan says she will try again to catch those nasty horse flies.
If she fails, some crawly bugs will pay the price.
