[Dailydrool] Time Outs

I too have read numerous times that a dog should not have a timeout in a
crate more than 10 minutes. I don't think those people have ever dealt with
bassets.

My very first basset, Bubbles ATB, was a real fighter. She always went to
time out in the dog room , not the crate. I would go up after 10 minutes
and ask her if she could be nice. More times than not, she would stomp her
feet, shake her head, bark at me and then turn her back on me. I always
took that as a no. Sometimes it was 2 + hours before she would stomp out of
the room without being a pistol.

Bugsey was raised to like his crate more. Most of the time when he has been
sent to his crate, he has been over stimulated and he needs a nap. I am
sure not going to wake him up because his 10 minutes are up! I have had the
10 minute rule work with some.

>From what Bev has said about Conley, I have a feeling he needs more than a
10 minute cool down period.
