Murphy and Jack are insured with Healthy Paws. I wish my own insurance
were as good as theirs! Jack?s recent kidney stone surgery and followup
was
very expensive. Once I had all the paperwork in, I had a check in a few
days,
no questions asked.

They also have an app for your phone. You can take a photo of your vet
bill and send it directly. So convenient. Or you can submit a claim
online, or
mail it in.

The LA Times did a comparison of all the pet insurance companies last
year
and they liked Healthy Paws the best. They cover cancer treatment and
some
?alternative? treatments like acupuncture. Check them out!

MBR is liquidating. A new basset rescue has been started. The name of the
new rescue is Basset Hound Rescue of Michigan. It is currently a
non-profit without 501c3 status. The 501c3 paperwork is being submitted
and will hopefully be approved soon.

Thank you very much, Miz Christina. My Auntie Feyfey taught that it is
important for the poor hounds of Michigan to be looked after. We are very
pleased that there is light at the end of their tunnel.

Sincerely,

Pawtunia and Rusty

I?ve had Pet Plan insurance for my lab for years. Last year I had a claim
for a torn ACL and they promptly paid when I submitted the bills. Didn?t
think I?d ever use it but they paid about $3200 of a $4000 bill. Worked
great. Our basset has no claims yet. I?ve definitely gotten more back
then what
we?ve paid for the last 6 years.

I currently do not have insurance on my two 9-year old basset hounds.
However, Cowboy was insured with VPI from age 2-7. It cost around
$33/month. He's been a healthy dog so we only made a few claims but it was
generally hassle free. I believe we got back around 70% of the cost for
most of the claims we submitted.

VPI refused to insure Rupert since he previously had a foreign object
removal surgery. VPI denied ensuring him stating that he was prone to
eating things. Duh! That's why I want to ensure him, I said. Regardless, I
was able to find another great insurance company by recommendation of a
fellow drooler, called PetCare Insurance. We opted to just get Ru the
emergency only coverage. It was around $10 a month. And it would cover any
emergencies such as car accident injuries, eating a foreign object to
needing surgery, ingesting poison, etcetera. It would not however cover
regular routine care or something such as cancer. They'd reimburse up to
$2,000 per incident and pee the person who referred me, they'd covered
several foreign object removal surgeries for the same hound with no
hassle.
Lucky for us, Rupert stopped eating weird stuff and began only stealing
our
dinners. We never did make a claim on that policy though we paid it for
about 5 years.

Ultimately now that they are both 9, we cancelled their insurance. We are
more financially secure than we were when they were younger, and at this
point we know that we would not go through tremendous measures to save
them
should they come down with a horrible cancer. Anyway hope this is helpful
to you as you can search for a good insurance company for your dog. I feel
they can be good if you do not have a good savings account and you do not
want to be traumatized when a huge vet bill arises. However if your dog is
generally healthy and you don't go to the vet very often beside routine
care, you could probably just set aside the $50 a month you'd pay an
insurance and pretty quickly accumulate a nice little chunk of change for
emergencies.

Drool on,
Kacy with Cow and Ru

I can't recommend Trupanion highly enough. Bertie (now 12 1/2) has been
with them since puppyhood. In the course of the last two years alone
they've
paid out some $40,000 ... without which he quite simply wouldn't be
here
now. Premium is currently about $100/month (that's approximately $80 U.S.)

Well worth it.

I have had Pet Insurance since 1999. I started out with VPI but, no
longer
use them. I am with Pet's Best now and I am very happy. They are very
efficient and I have money in my account within a week. VPI takes a week
or two
to even start on your claim. I believe they were bought out a while ago
and it seems every time I turned around they would not cover a claim that
I
submitted for Wednesday and I had her the Top of the Line Coverage too
with
them. I had a 9 month fight after she passed but, I won out. I will
never
insure with them again. I know Pet's Best so well I have a Sales Agent I
work with and email. There is another insurance out there I read good
things
about but, can't remember the name.

Hello all and thank you for the drool that was sent. Poor lad now has a
lump on his neck from the antibiotic injections which will either disperse
or abscess - again many thanks to Sandy G for keeping my head straight and
getting me on the right road. On top of this he had an epileptic fit last
night too - so a little drool would be really appreciated. Over the
weekend he could barely walk because of the lump but today he seems easier
in himself and happier.

We are sending drool to all in need - especially to our old friend Jackie
Chazey in NY - we are sorry you are struggling still but totally understand
your feelings of loss - and to Kjersti and family with their loss of Gustav
- we were shocked to hear this, and we know how you adored him/ He was
a wonderful character and will be greatly missed. I am not entirely sure
if Kjersti is on the DD email list but I know she is on the FB list (which
I am not).

Drool to all in need and thank you -

$5 Friday is coming up this week on July 3rd so we are
encouraging early donations due to the holiday weekend.
Our rescue for July is San Diego Basset Rescue which is
a very small rescue that currently has 8 seniors in its care.
I will post Lillian?s story below - I wish you could see her
picture. She is a beautiful girl who will have a much better
life now.

Paypal your donation directly to the rescue, especially if
you need a tax receipt. Their paypal address is
bassets4u at att.net Or you may paypal your donation to
debbiesdawgs at icloud.com Checks are also welcome and
should be mailed to P.O. Box 152746, San Diego CA 92195
All we ask is $5 - if you?ve never donated before, please do it
for these hounds!

We will have 2 drawings this month - one for the Moon Doggie
Coffee $25 gift card and one for a Debbie?s Dawgs tee shirt,
size XL in indigo blue or a size L in sky blue. Winner chooses
which size.

By the way, our tee shirt sales were phenomenal and will
allow us to help even more senior hounds in need of
medical care. Our sincere thanks to all who purchased
one!

Here is Lillian?s story: Lillian is a sweet 8-9 yr old gal who came to us
from a shelter. When she arrived at the shelter she had nails growing into
the pads of her feet which caused limping for who knows how long. The vet
at the shelter removed them from the pads. She had dental disease so bad
that when we did a dental on her the vet pulled 15 teeth with pus running our
of her gums as they pulled them. Through all of this she has kept her
sweet disposition. We are sure she had been an outside dog and she was afraid
to come into the house. Once inside the home she had no clue what a dog bed
was. Finally after a couple of months she claimed a small memory foam bed
as her own. It is the only bed she uses or wants..

Again, please do consider donating to help Lillian and
the other 7 seniors with San Diego BR, one of whom
was just diagnosed with cancer. This small rescue is run
by only 3 people and could really use our help. $5 is not a
lot of money and most of us would never miss it; $5 donated
by a lot of people makes a big difference for seniors in need.
As Debbie always said, Don?t Stop Believing; we can all be
part of the solution.

Donna, drool fueler for Bosley and Sunny

him goodbye and good traveling, little hound. You have been a truly great
