I am seeking some help/advice with a new addition to my family. After
losing two of my three hounds last year, I have added a new one. He is five
years old, not used to a household, and scared to death. He gets along great
with Dora, but I have had him a little over a week now and I cannot get
him to eat. I have tried all types of canned and dry foods along with
chicken, hamburger, and hot dogs. He will eat if I force feed him, but not
willingly. How do I calm him down and get him to eat? Someone mentioned massage
in one of the threads. Any ideas on how to get him jump started eating
and any massage techniques would be appreciated.

On naming dogs: Years ago I started out with a border collie named Chewy.
My husband would tease him and tell him to go find "Toby", a name he
picked out of the blue. He would go off looking and never find Toby. After I
lost Chewy I went looking for a basset hound. I was on Basset Rescue of
Alabama's website and up popped Toby. I adopted Toby because of his name. I
figured that Chewy finally found him and sent him to me.

Anyway, any advice on how to reassure my newbie and get him started would
be appreciated.
