The doc should do a blood panel first and if all looks good 
there should be no problem. All the vets around here use 
Isoflourine (sp??) which is a gas and they wake up as soon 
as the gas is turned off. What usually knocks them out is 
the pre-anesthesia sedative. Infected gums do get into the 
blood stream and can cause more serious problems.
