[Dailydrool] Someone help

Hi it's been a long time since I posted but I really need some help  we had two other Bassets and when Abby was diagnosed  with Addison disease and this group was a great help in getting us pointed in the right direction. The Vet said she wouldn't make it to 7,but she was with us for 13 years. So when we lost Murphy and Abby we natural looked for another basset. 
Well now we have Otis he is wonderful, my husband is very ill and Otis is great he stays with Bobby never gets in his way with the walker and tells us if Bobby is going to have a seizure (all with no training in these areas. But my problem is he steals things off the end tables or anyplace he can reach he runs under the end table and won't let you get it. I'm at my wits end I was washing the kitchen floor Wednesday   Night and was using an SOS pad he grabbed it and ran before we could get it he swallowed it we spent the next 2 hours feeding him bread a proxide to make him throw it up. Thank god he did this is only the most recent  of his theft  does anyone have any suggestion on how I can break him of this bad habit. We love him and don't want to lose him for something stupid.
