[Dailydrool] Merta Meets her DNA

​The day before yesterday I took ML for a walk through the park nearby.
I don't know what her life was like at the kennel, certainly it was not
bad, I don't mean that. But I suspect she was always with other dogs and
took her cues from them, and learned to be part of a pack. Certainly she is
more comfortable with another dog now, specifically of course her big black
fuzzy protector, Doc.
So she was a bit nervous out alone with no one but me to help her.
And it was with some trepidation that she spotted a huge brown creature,
nearly as big as she, in a yard and she skidded to a halt, tail tightly
tucked, eyes bulging just a bit.
"what? WHAT??" kind of drifted from her. "is THAT?" and suddenly it
exploded and Merta Lou ducked behind my legs.There was nothing there.
Nothing left. Looking over her shoulder edgily, we continued and 10 more
yards and--THERE'S ANOTHER ONE!! And she stopped and stared and it stared
back and slowly, the light crept on in her eyes and the tail lifted, and
the DNA spoke to her:
"That, my dear," it whispered in her ear "Is a BUNNY! And it is for YOU."
Well there is no doubt now that she knows a Bunny from a tree and is
harking back to her heritage--she was on the lookout for the rest of the
walk. Last night I heard her whispering in her sleep
"bunny..............bunny............bunny..........."
