[Dailydrool] Bassets and guinea pigs

Greetings! We've had Bassets and guinea pigs as well as other breeds of dogs and guinea pigs. How well they get along depends on the personality of the individual dog. Our Basset, Bobo, tends to be a defender of personal space and so we never put the guinea pigs in close proximity to him. Our gentle giant of a Newfoundland, however, would lie on the floor with a guinea pig between his paws and both critters were as happy with each other as could be. Guinea pigs are the sweetest, but they can be easily injured by an over-playful dog. You'd have to monitor the situation carefully when they're together. You'll have a wonderful time with both, though; especially at dinner time when the Basset is yodeling his Aahroo and the guinea pig is whistling for its supper.
