[Dailydrool] What remains

Wondering what to do if your dog passes in the middle of the night is a
reasonable question. Some Veterinarians will pick up remains, others will
not: find out whether your Vet will or not.
I use a service connected with a local funeral parlor: she comes out night
or day and picks up the dog and transports it for cremation. She charges a
flat fee--some places charge by weight or size. You might check around and
see if anyone in your area does this. Your Vet might know, your city hall
might know.
Either way, if you have to wait any length of time at all be sure your pet
is in -- there is no other way to put this-- something leakproof. No matter
how terrible it sounds or how much you love your dog once he is gone
changes happen very rapidly. Try toplace him someplace cool until he can be
transported.
It's a tough topic. Like everything else it is easier to deal with if you
are thinking a little ahead.
(And no matter how prepared you think you are; you aren't.)
