[Dailydrool] Noisy or quiet

I am owned by 4 Bassets. Everyone thinks that Gallagher is so, so, so
quiet. MacKenzie barks hello to everyone she sees. She's got a deep voice
and is quite loud. There is no "shhh'ing" her. At the dog park she barks
her greetings to everyone. Guinness runs around greeting everyone with an
even louder bark. Mulligan barks when she plays (which is often).
Gallagher wags his tail, lies down and watches. He never barks in public.
I have finally figured out why. ... It's because he is rarely quiet at
home. It's not that he barks a lot. He whines, constantly. (for treats).
He barks at me for treats. He howls, in his sleep. He dreams loudly.
During the day, when all is quiet, he howls. He is the official bell hound
in our family and they all join in. Mulligan, who has a very loud bark, is
a soft howler. People say, "what a quiet boy". Little do they know. (He
whined the whole time I was typing this.)
