[Dailydrool] Pee, titers, and shots

I think I missed the first post about pee, so I'm sorry if I am a bit
off base here, but my absolute favorite pee produce is Kennel Odor
Eliminator (or KOE). The name is a bit misleading, since it is not
simply for kennels. It does a great job in the house too. It removes all
kinds of odors (I have used it on super-stinky cat pee and both cat and
dog barf, and it works fine for both), though I think it's really
designed to deal with dog pee.  You can order it online, and the small
bottle will last a long time, since you don't need much--you'll need to
dilute it before use. I usually make it up a gallon at a time and use it
for laundry, pee spots, and anything else that comes along. If you pick
up a dollar-store spray bottle, you can have some readily on hand for
small spots.

I have had people say they do not like the smell of KOE, but if you can
smell it after it dries, you probably need to dilute it more. I would
certainly say that its ginger smell is better than dog-pee smell.

I have asked my vet about titers for my older dogs. Her concern has been
that titers can vary from one day to the next, so they are not an
absolutely reliable result. But she also does not do multiple shots in
the same day because if there is a problem, she wants to know which shot
it is that caused it. I think her viewpoint is wise. Just to be on the
safe side, I usually do not rush off after getting shots. If there is a
problem, I'd rather be right at the vet's office, so I chat with the
staff a bit, pay my bill, and never just shoot out the door.

That being said, if you have a dog with an allergy to a shot, of course
you will go with titers. It's just not always the best if a dog can take
the shots.
Pam
