[Dailydrool] Guinness the itchy stinker

I'm worried about our 5 year old Guinness.  I've brought this up before,
but he's not getting better.  Here's what is going on:

   - He's constantly scratching, his neck and under his mouth
   - He smells worse than a normal stinker
   - His eyes are goopy
   - The inside of his mouth has bright red splotches under the flews and
   above the teeth.
   - He is having trouble chewing hard treats, but wants them!
   - He pees in the house (has to be in the crate all night, and is taken
   out, has a dog door and ramp)
   - He lost 10 lbs in 6 weeks, but is eating again
   - He whines when scratching or sometimes just lying there
   - Seems happy otherwise.  Runs outside,

The vet suggested that he is not tolerating any plaque in his mouth, and
even though he just had a dental its a problem.  Actually suggested
removing all of his teeth or seeing an expensive dog dentist.

I'm thinking - how does that explain the goopy eyes??  Could this be
allergies??
