[Dailydrool] Bleeding gums

Our basset, Browser, age 14, has just begun to have episodes of bleeding
gums. Our vet, uses water pressure to clean his teeth a few times yearly
in the past year as he does not want him to be put under anesthesia for
teeth cleaning at this age.

He is now on antibiotics and by the time we get him to our vet, the
bleeding has stopped and he cannot figure out the spot that has been
bleeding. He was given a vitamin K shot to help the blood coagulate.

We are now only giving him soft food and organic breast of chicken. No
hard treats.

His blood work-up showed high lipase but not amylase so he does not have
pancreatitis. All kidney and liver values are normal. For this reason he
is on Royal Canin gastrointestinal canned food. His appetite is good and
he fortunately likes this new food. Up until recently, he was on Senior
Orijen dry food and some Wellness grain free.

Our vet is fantastic and searching for a loose tooth or looking for a hole
in the gum line leading to a tooth--none found.

Anyone have any other ideas as to what we can do?
