When we got our first basset, Commander Bo, quite a few years ago, my son was much younger.  he was on the phone with a friend, telling his friend that we had just adopted a basset hound. The friend was unfamiliar with basset hounds and asked “what does a basset hound look like?”  My son replied, “well, kind of like a beagle that melted”.
