[Dailydrool] Different strokes for different folks

Bev, your complicated system of dog-rubbing struck a chord here!

The late lamented (and still sorely missed, though it's been ten years)
Billy B Basset didn't care. You could pat him anywhere, rub him anywhere,
and expect the same enthusiastic tail-wagging that he gave whenever you
came near.

Vernon Q Basset of blessed memory was more of a shoulder man. Mostly he was
a cuddle bug. He wanted to sit right on you (all sixty pounds) and then you
could pat him. He liked his shoulders rubbed, though, and he did enjoy a
bellly rub too.

Paddi B Basset has a special chest spot that she loves to have rubbed, and
she also really likes to be rubbed at the base of her ears while she leans
over towards you. Doesn't mind having anything else patted either, but
she's pretty indifferent to most things. Belly rubs are good when she's in
the mood, but they are entirely at her discretion.

Simba, the spectacular foster failure Formosan Mountain Dog (came for two
weeks 2.5 years ago) absolutely loves to have his cheeks rubbed. He leans
over hard enough that he just about falls over. The person who touches him
at the base of his tail, particularly the person who dares to scratch the
base of his tail, needs disability insurance. The kind that pays out more
if you actually lose a body part.

Definitely different strokes for different folks at our house!
Mary, with Paddi B and Simba
