[Dailydrool] Bugsey and Beauford

First Bugsey. The vet says he can't say it is lupus until another organ is
attacked by his body. Right now it is "just" his muscles and nerve sheaths.
So we are putting him on 40 mg of prednisone a day, an Omega 3 suppliment
and denamarin. Both the Omega 3 suppliment and denamarin have
anti-inflammatory properties and the denamarin will help protect Bugsey's
liver from the prednisone, The vet says he can't guess at Bugsey's
prognosis until we see what it takes to get him into remission. If we can
get him into remission in a few months at this level of prednisone, then
his outlook is good. If we have to resort to chemo to get him into
remission, or we don't get him into remission it is very bad. So, we are in
a holding pattern for a while.

Now for Beauford. He developed a bunch of new food allergies: banana, berry
mix (cranberries and blueberries),chicken, duck, green beans, lamb, pork,
spinach, and venison. So I got on Chewy.com and searched for foods and
treats that would work. Then I got on petfoodadvisor.com and checked them
out there. I love that they tell you how many recalls the company has. I
found a food and treats and they will be here Wednesday. With the chicken
and duck allergies, pill pockets are no longer an option. Tomilyn makes a
pill dough. I am not really impressed with it, but I bought some. We are
going on vacation next week and our favorite vet tech is allergic to peanut
butter. I made up peanut butter dough and plan on just using it, but I will
have this stuff on hand because it makes the vet tech really nervous to use
it.

So the upshot is, Beauford will be much better shortly and we have a plan
for Bugsey. So I am still feeling better. I would still like to know if
anyone has had a dog with a autoimmune disease and how you treated it.
