Hi Drool family,

I am at your mercy and love with needed basset advice for our Tilly (11).
She had a bad weekend not being able to put weight on her rear right leg,
holding it up,. Not wanting to walk. A hard time getting her up and walking
on 3 legs. Ran out of pain meds Tramadol and took her to animal emergency.
Physical Exam showed possible torn ACL. Vet gave me more Tramadol and
Rimadyl. After 2 days of absolutely not wanting to get up and crying in
pain, last night started walking on leg, putting some weight on it. Pain
meds starting to work, I quess.

At age 1 year she had complete CT on spine and knees, found some spinal
stenosis and bilateral patellar luxation. No disc disease at that time

My vet just came back from vacation and made an appmt for ligament surgery
Friday with a general surgeon at another local vet office we use for tooth
cleaning and minor surgeries .

I am wanting to wait, talk to a surgeon (orthopedic), and see how she does.
Maybr even get another scan or MRI and not operate so quickly without
knowing what is wrong.

What advice do my family basset experts have?

Tilly has had on / off weakness in both legs all her life, and has required
pain meds many times, This episode is the worst yet.

Emergency vet said degenerative disease sets off problems in older dogs, not
so much an injury or fall.

Drool to all who need it, Millie especially, who is having same problems.

Sue to the Triplets: Tilly, Phoebe and Harvey
