 Dear Dale -
I was so sad to read that Gracie has made her trip to the bridge; I have been a lurker for many years and have always enjoyed and looked forward to Snoopy's posts; so very sad to read todays.  There really are no words that can ease your heartache, but I just wanted you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you & your family.  Run free sweet Gracie; you are already very much missed.
Hugs from Boston -Lauren Bradbury & Zoey ATB

This is Merta Lou, Professional Lady Basset, Intrepid Journalist and now,
Taaaa Daaaaa--CHEF!

Yes! The MotherPerson has finally listened to our entreaties and is going
to COOK for us! Our days of pitiful dry kibble are OVER! Lay it out there,
Chef-Woman: steaks and fries and Veal a la Oscar, Soups de la Mer, homemade
French bread Baguettes with a touch of freshly churned butter: clotted
cream and strawberries, hand picked from the fields-- imagine it! Steak
Dianne, Steak Tartare, Steak Nicoise, poached egg with kippers, warm peach
confit....EVERY DAY!
This morning we had a touch of disgusting kibble, a soy-based sausage
patty, scrambled eggs and buttered toast!  We were not offered a menu, but
I am sure one is forthcoming before luncheon.
Perhaps we could add tea time as well--- not really tea I do not care for
tea and coffee but just the crumpets and scones? Lovely little butter
cookies and Madelaines, watercress sandiwches with the crusts removed oh
and PEANUT BUTTER!!
Ahhh, the glory of it. The Joy! The

wait what?
What do you mean you already cook for us? THAT is what you mean? The
chickie/sweet potato/green bean/ blueberry stuff you already make?
Wait no! Wait come back! Mother Person  listen to me please you cannot mean
that really you.............what about-- I mean really-- just???
Oh I am crushed. I need a nap and a cold drink of water.
Have we any seltzer? I mean, this is TAP water......

Love and Cuddles,
Merta Lou, who may just starve.

Hi it?s Duncan again,

Very unlike me to chime into the drool this often but I have more discovers this week than ever. Not only did I discover the secret of blocking the cold black box (thank you again Gracie - really I didn?t know this before I read the drool) now I discovered what spa day really is!

I know, I know spa day you would think it?s bath day but there?s a difference. Bathes are so ugh but spa days are awesome.

Mommy carries out buckets of warm water - it has to be warm otherwise I?ll freeze to death even in 96 degree weather. The first part I must admit is not great, down right miserable, I might say. Then mommy pulls out the massage mitts and goes to town rubbing me all over and for a very long time. I even collapsed on her and she was very surprised I was this relaxed. (Mommy isn?t l bright. Massages are all about relaxing.) Then you have to get wet again but she still massages the shampoo out so that?s fine with me. After that part is over, she pulls out a white fluffy towel and massages again until you are snoring. Jen after all that rubbing you get some treats.

Yes, I highly recommend spa days. But no bath days please. I don?t know why mommy ever gave me bath days when spa days are 1000 times better.

Nancy (who?s back went out from massaging Duncan for so long) with Duncan and Rambo the clean Shar Pei

This may not seem Basset-related at first, but it will be... trust me. My question of the day is:
Why do people choose to live in Alaska? I know at least one Drooler does; there may be more, and I really, really want to know. Really. And, how do you and your Bassets cope with the weather, the long "night" and long "day"? Do you feed them any differently -- type food and/or time-wise according to season? How DO you cope? How do THEY? Obviously both of you do; I just can't comprehend it, thus I really want to know WHY? And HOW?
I hope this isn't considered offensive; I am one of those "I-hate-winter" types, so am just flabbergasted & curious.
