Wow, to have actual hunting bassets in your house!  We get mice but they are
strictly the property of the house cats.  At some point we realized that our
hound, Tucker, was putting himself to bed in his crate just to avoid the
nocturnal hunting cats!  He wants nothing to do with mice or bunnies or
birds or any other creature.  Strictly a 'live and let live' kind of guy!
