[Dailydrool] silent lurker

I know I have not been on for a long long time...but, I always lurk the
drool and always will..this is the best group of folk I know.  Everyone is
always supportive of everyone!!!  

Mike and I are still here on the farm..full barn of 28 horses.  We keep busy
and out of trouble.  We do not have a basset at this time but, do have a
rescue that adopted 3 yrs ago.a collie /shepherd mix named George.  As much
as we loved the bassets (Elmo, Gus Gus, Leroy and Nala) we had a lot of
heartaches with 2 of them coming with back issues ( Nala) and eye issues
(Leroy).  We wanted so much to rescue but, just were so gun shy of more
problems.  Leroy handled his vision issues like a champ.  We were lucky
enough to have the bestest eye dr. ever and when he retired a week after we
lost Leroy to Cancer I knew I couldn't face any eye issues for awhile
without Dr. Vinisie.    He was always so encouraging with Leroy and then we
lost Leroy to cancer and not anything to do with eyes but he was totally
blind at this point and using Gus Gus as his eyes.  The 2 were
inseparable.then we noticed Leroy with a huge lump that was growing daily
and almost same time Gus was having tummy issues so off to vet and both were
diagnosed with cancer.     Nala with her back was really hard to see her
fail but, try so hard not to.   The heartache was tough but, this group got
me thru.  

It took us almost 4 months to even think of another dog but, Mike was like
we need something totally different .  I was not so sure as the bassets
always made me laugh with their attitudes.however I wasn't even sure I was
ready for any dog.  Then we met George..and he stole our hearts.  Very far
from basset..long legs and 85 lbs of love.  Bassets will always be in my
heart and one day I am sure we might just have a pack again so hence why I
lurk cuz I don't have a basset but, the friends I have made thru the drool
are always with me.  Thank you.

 

So that being said I would like to take this time to wish everyone Happy
Howlidays!!  May the New Year be full of happiness and love.
