Hi it's Dale,
dalerutz.com
you should look.  It'll melt your heart.   And my heart, well my heart is in pieces as you well know.  Mom's funeral was a week and a half ago, we are adjusting.  Snoopy's meds are keeping his glaucoma from hurting him.  I'm back at work, focusing on other things.  Mom didn't have a lot, she had a few nice things.  I had brought some pieces back home with me and set them aside.  Yesterday afternoon I sat down in my bedroom to untangle a necklace and put it away.  The Chomper (my shadow) followed me.  He was on the floor and I was concentrating on the necklace and I heard some soft grunting, so I figured Snoopy had come in.  The grunting was getting louder so I told the boys to settle down but they kept up so I looked around the corner and ............
My almost 14 year old basset, who has a bad back and has been down (HARD) in the back twice and now basically has 3 to 3 1/2 working legs, arthritis in both hips and shoulders, has high blood pressure and is now blind in one eye ...... you know ..... Snoopy .... was PLAYING ALLIGATOR mouth with my 4 year old whirling dervish.
Now, to be fair, Chomper was doing nearly all of the whirling.  They were both chewing on each others ears and dolaps and legs and feet, very gently with the tips of their teeth, like fleaing.  Snoopy's butt was largely planted but he was pivoting and lunging too ...... a few times he rolled over on his side (once on his back) and they kept up their soft, gentle game of alligator mouth, complete with the grunts, for quite a while, actually until I finished untangling the necklace.
If you've been on the drool for a while you know that Snoopy lost both of his sisters within a year (LuLu in Oct 2017 and Gracie July 2018).  Shortly after Gracie died he went off of his kibble and I thought he was going to die of a broken heart.  He went off of his crock pot stew right before I went to London in early December and I really thought he'd never have another good day.  These days though he is howling for his bowl and tugging toys with his brother Chomper on the other end like his life depends on it.  Fetching.  Squeaking toys.  He even tries to do the basset 500 with Chomper but very quickly winds up planting himself mid dash and high 5ing Chomper as he comes and goes.  Now Snoopy is even playing alligator mouth like a puppy.
I'm not crying, you're crying.
Dale
