Happy New Year to all.  Last night was a trip.  our notabasset, Ipo, is terrified of fireworks.  The bassets don’t like them but are not traumatized.   Hawaiian residents LOVE fireworks and New Year’s eve they go on starting mid afternoon until dawn.  fireworks are legal (although aerials are not, but that stops no one), so pretty much most middle class residential neighborhoods boom all night long.

I finally found a combination of things that calmed Ipo—shut up with me and her two basset sisters snuggled on my bed touching me with the blinds down, the door closed, lights and fan on, listening to all female  pop singing groups from the 1950’s.  (!)   she favors “The Ronettes”. lollipop  and the sandman anyone?  (Believe me, the sandman never came to our house last night. ) We are all napping today.
