[Dailydrool] those dreaded mousies

unfortunately i have lived with a ton of bassets who are most definitely not killers.  my chesapeake was another story.  she loved the hunt.  mr cooper loved the hunt of groundhogs, but mice they were too small of an appetizer for him!  he liked the challenge of larger critters.   dexter is a lover not a fighter.  chickens, frogs, and all other animals are threats.
however, last may i acquired a 2 lb kitten named "the smooch"  she has filled out to 7 lbs now at about 8 months.  she is strictly an indoor cat.  i have come home to find most of dexter's squeaky toys gutted and the squeaky bladder lying in the place of honor in the living room.  it certainly was not him as he barely plays with them.
last week i lost  smooch for a bit.  i found her staring intently at the computer screen watching videos.  nat geo was having a special on snakes. (yea snakes) she was totally engrossed in one on black mambas.  not hitting the screen or anything just staring at the screen.  i left her and came back one hr later and found her now learning about king cobras.  this cat is NEVER going outside.  heaven help any mousie that comes inside this house.
get a kitten they said.  it would be fun.  well who need a watch dog.  i have the cat who thinks she is a mamba/cobra.    mice, we don't have no stinkin' mice.  (which is good because the basset wouldn't touch them!)
lois &dexter (who is starting service dog training next week) & the smooch  (i am snake be afraid)
