<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Californian FB"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'>I had to chime in on the thread about people mistaking my bassets for
beagles. Not too long ago I posted about Diva Houdini getting out of our
yard and being called by the dog catcher, aka Animal Control, who asked if “I
had a Beagle that was out of the yard”. Being frantic, I just said “She’s
a basset, but yes, that’s my dog!” Looking back, I should
have said “you’re animal control and you can’t tell the
difference between a beagle and a basset?” Jeez!!!!<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Californian FB"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'>Secondly, we have a visitor this week, and bless his little heart, he
is just making me realize all the reasons I love my bassets so much! My
mother and father in law were dog-sitting for their son, my brother in law and
his new fiancée and had to go to Vegas for a conference, so guess who’s
next in line for dog sitting??? So, the poor thing, he’s sweet as
all get out, and I am trying very hard to make him feel at home and welcome and
give him lots and lots of love and affection, but, well, it’s just that his
ears are too short, and his legs are way too long, and he’s just way too
energetic, and he actually listens when you tell him to do something, and he
will go on a walk without dragging you to one single stinky thing, or
flattening his whole body out and making you beg him like an idiot in the
middle of the street and then send for reinforcement treats to get him back home…frankly,
it’s just odd, I tell ya! But there may be hope for this fella yet…last
night, I was lounging on the sofa with Ms. Diva Houdini when he walked up,
looked at me and did this little whine thing as if to say “play with me
and give me attention”. This is a classic Sophie move, and one she
has been perfecting lately by adding a tug on my pants or my shirt sleeve to
get my attention when whining won’t work. He hasn’t done that
part yet, but apparently, the whining thing is new. I bet I know where he
got it from!! doG help my brother in law when he comes back home and gets
to see how rotten his pup has become being in the house with the two mistresses
of my domain! BWAHHHAHHHHAHHHAAAAAA <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
