I think we finally got Joey's harness issues solved! Here's the 3 harnesses we've been dealing with:

Planet Dog Cozy Hemp Harness: www.planetdog.com This is the first harness that he broke; but, they definitely get a gold star for customer service!! I called them, they told me where to get the return forms back, and within about a week and a half I had a brand new harness in hand! They folks at the store (the store is in Maine,) are extremely helpful, and they all say they stand behind all of their products! I really wish there was more customer service folks like this! We're keeping the new harness, as it's nice and comfortable for the pups; it's padded and all of the straps are adjustable, even the chest strap! So, it fits the long basset bodies very well! If you don't have a tie-out for your pups, this is a nice harness to consider!

Ruffwear Webmaster Harness: http://www.ruffwear.com/Web-Master-Harness?sc=2&category=1131 This harness has been re-engineered since last year when I bought one. I called them, since I *still* haven't heard from the distributor I purchased it from. The first thing they said was "let me guess, the top ripped out of it?" So, apparently this is a common occurrence? They also said that even though it was search & rescue rated, it is not now S&R rated, though they do admit to selling to search & rescue teams. That bugs me, as I wonder how many S&R groups have had them fail?! In short, they are NOT tie-out rated either (again, no mention of that when I ordered it last year). I do appreciate that they found a problem with their product and have attempted to fix it, but I wasn't happy to hear they refused to replace the harness, but they did offer a discount on a new one (which's more expensice now, so I could've bought a new harness for the same amount I bought the old one for.) If you want to do some serious hiking, these are great, for tie-outs, on the other hand, not a good idea...

Champion K-9 Harness: http://www.champk-9.com/CH.htm According to their website, this one IS tie-out rated! So, I purchased it; so far it looks like it'll work out well, as it's very thick and really reinforced. It can be used as part of a seat belt system that sounds very good, I have a seat belt restraint for Joey, so I didn't completely research the restraint part of it. He did manage to back out of it this morning, during a wrestling match to see if we could take care of his nails, but I adjusted it, so it doesn't look like he'll be doing that any time soon... Haven't had him on his tie-out yet today, but it does look to be quite well constructed.

I'm hoping this harness will contain my houndini, and I hope that folks who were considering harnesses may find this useful!

The boys have been drooling like mad due to the warm weather, so they're flinging drool to all who need it!
