<div dir="ltr"><div>Prozac has been used for years for separation anxiety. It is discussed in CLINICAL BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE FOR SMALL ANIMALS by Karen Overall, which was published in 1997. While this may be a new study, most Vets are well aware of it. All drugs used for separation anxiety require additional training unless the drug is simply a sedative. Like shock collars, which also require training both in the use and abuse of, most pharmaceuticals have strings attached.</div>
<div>The trouble with misbehaving dogs is that it requires that the owner dedicate some real time and energy into solving the problem and changing not only the dog's behavior but more often, theirs as well. Change is never easy. Most people on this list are willing to put the time into revamping behavior, but an awful lot of people are not. They pop a pill down the dog's throat and expect it to work and when it doesn't, it is the fault of the dog, and the medication.</div>
