Hi everyone,
Once again, thank you all for your kind wishes for my Maeby girl. We took her to an internal medicine specialist in Calgary and it turns out that Maeby may have a number conditions.
The vet thinks she may have a worm infestation...she thinks she may be really sensitive given her past problems with this situation. She gave us a powerful dewormer which I have to administer over the next 3 days. She thinks that Maeby may also have atypical Addison's Disease. This wouldn't be ideal, but at least there is some treatment. The more troubling diagnosis is that Maeby is in the early stage of esophageal disease...they only way to diagnosis this would be put her under and do a scope or do some exploratory surgery. This is something I pray we don't have to do...I know how some dogs can react poorly to anethesesia and can sometime die on the operating table...plus, there is no treatment and Maeby's life would be difficult and short. We're going to wait a couple more days to see how she is reacting to the deworming and if necessary, go through the testing for Addison's Disease. If that doesn't work, well, I don't even want to think about it because the next step is just too scary.
