Take himto the last place the deerhound was spotted,give him something to smell that reeks of Deerhound-- a blankie, a bed, a toy-- anything,and see what he does. At the worse he will watch birds. At the best....you may at least end up with some idea of the direction to take.</div>

<div>I used an untrained,completely tracking-innocent Basset to find a cat he had known for maybe two days. He was right on. Took him about 5 minutes. (Kitty had not gone far and we had walked past him maybe 30 times, weeping and calling)</div>
